Principal Mrs Bevin and Head Teacher English Mrs Somner with their Secretary's Awards

We were very proud to share the news that Westy was recognised at the 2022 Minister’s and Secretary’s Excellence Awards.

WWHS received the Secretary’s Award for Outstanding School Initiative for our HSC IGNITE Program. Mrs Jessica Somner was also recognised with a Secretary’s Excellence Award for School Service, and our Year 12 (2022) School Captain, Montana Stephens, received a Minister’s Commendation for Student Excellence.

Montana also received the University of Newcastle Vice Chancellor's Award for Academic Excellence in Year 12 at the Year 12 Graduation Ceremony.

It goes without saying this type of recognition comes from the collective efforts of a dynamic and caring team of teachers and support staff, as well as the involvement of our supportive families. Congratulations to our community for this wonderful achievement!
